The 3:30 Project, features 120 abstract portraits developed from an appreciative inquiry with 30 unique trauma survivors. Responding to a series of prompts and questions, I ask participants to explore their best qualities, strengths, and visions of love in interviews, discussions and written surveys. They shared empowering, safe, and fulfilling experiences and intimate glimpses into important relationships.
30 works are on view at the Southern Vermont Center from August 31 through October 6th, 2019. The complete project is scheduled for 2020 at the Amy E. Tarrant Gallery in Burlington, VT. (I'm looking for leads for an third venue in late 2020 or 2021).
Everyone that has experienced trauma is invited to participate. I will create your portraits from your responses to a series of questions and prompts; an appreciative inquiry through email. You will share scents, colors, sounds, objects, physical sensations, memories, or images representing your preferred state of being. The artwork is a physical and visual reminder of the best in you and your potential. It is a tool to foster appreciation; you are part of a community and you have the power and capacity to thrive.
I pledge to ensure your privacy - you share only what you want and I share only what you want. Let me know if you'd like to remain anonymous.
The triptychs will be exhibited publicly in galleries and alternative venues: medical and community service providers, rehabilitation facilities, and shelters.
